On May 8, 2015, World War II-era combat planes flew over Washington, D.C., marking the 70th anniversary of VE Day, when the U.S. and its allies defeated Nazi Germany.  In total 56 planes in 15 separate formations flew over the nation’s capital.  From a wonderful vantage point on the U.S. Department of the Interior Headquarters rooftop terrace (thanks Josh), I had the chance to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event  and snap a few photographs.
